HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR APPROACH TO A WEDDING DAY?

I approach a wedding day with two main objectives. First, most important to me is that my clients (as well as their valuable guests) enjoy the wedding day as much as possible. This approach keeps me positive, encouraging, and flexible if need be so that the bride and groom never feel rushed or uncomfortable in any portion of the photography experience.  Second, my goal is to create beautiful imagery. This is why I approach each wedding with an editorial perspective. I also believe a blend of candid imagery, photojournalism, as well as beautiful portraits are keys to creating a stunning final gallery for each of my clients. 

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located on the Coast of California in a beautiful town called San Luis Obispo, nestled nearly halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. An easy point of reference also, is we are located a short 1.5 hour drive north of Santa Barbara.

HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU TAKE A YEAR?

Ashley Rae personally takes on a limited amount of weddings per year, averaging around 12-14. This is for two reasons: 1. We pride ourselves in offering an exceptional client experience which involves investing time in understanding each couple’s unique personality, vision, and overall wedding style. 2. Inspiration and creativity remain to be of upmost importance when arriving at every clients wedding. Taking a limited amount of weddings per year allows us to avoid creativity burnout and approach each wedding with excitement, vision, and an artistic eye. 

DO YOU OFFER CINEMATOGRAPHY?

Absolutely! Both wedding photos and films are curated and edited with the same artistic style. Many of our clients receive a custom photo + video collection that has been created especially for them.

DO YOU SHOOT DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

WE AREN’T SURE IF WE WANT AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION. IS THIS SOMETHING YOU RECOMMEND?

This is definitely something that I recommend. The main reason is that this allows me to get to know you better as a couple. On the day of your wedding, you will likely be with your photographer more then any other person that day. If we’ve already spent time working together and getting to know one another, this ensures that we will have tons of fun together while creating beautiful photographs on your amazing wedding day. 

Since I truly enjoy working with couples prior to their wedding day, I have included a complimentary engagement session in all of my wedding packages. If you decide to take my recommendation in this regard, I promise you’ll be happy that you did! 

HOW MANY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS ARE DELIVERED AND WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE THEM?

Approximately 50-75 images per hour of wedding/event coverage is delivered to clients in the final photo gallery. Couples can expect their entire collection to be completed within 10-14 weeks. Additionally, I always love to send couples a few previews of both their engagement session and wedding day within a week of each.

DO YOU OFFER WEDDING ALBUMS AND PRINTS?

Absolutely! I offer a variety of luxury wedding albums for couples to choose from. This includes hard bound albums with a deluxe photo cover, as well as leather bound albums that can be beautifully engraved with a date and initials.  

DO YOU WORK WITH A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?

Yes, almost always. I find that in order to deliver the best quality and quantity of images in a final wedding gallery having a second photographer is incredibly important  

WHAT KIND OF GEAR DO YOU USE?

Ashley Rae primarily shoots with 2 Canon 5D MKIV’s, whereas the cinematography team primarily shoots with Lumix GH5S mirrorless cameras. Every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of all the photos captured during each session. Every time photo is taken, it is automatically backed up on a second card live. Immediately post each session, all images are  backed up to multiple locations including “the cloud”.  When it comes to the security of wedding/event images, all clients clients of Ashley Rae Studio are more than covered. 

HOW DO WE BOOK WITH ASHLEY RAE STUDIO?

We have made this process extremely easy for our clients. After an official meeting and verbal agreement to work together has been made, a contract will be drawn up for your electronic signature. Your wedding date is officially reserved after the initial retainer and contract is signed. Unfortunately, we cannot reserve any date until we have received both.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE WEDDING PHOTOS ARE NOT LOST OR DAMAGED?

Yes, absolutely! Bottom line, you can have a fantastic photographer but if your photos are not cared for and protected, your entire wedding could be lost. Therefore, I take extra precautions to make sure nothing happens to your photos after they are taken. For example, each camera used during your wedding records to two separate memory cards, meaning I have two copies of every single photo taken. Should a memory card become corrupt (this is rare), I have a back up card with all your photos. I also do not invest in unreliable equipment. All of the gear used to capture your wedding has a record of reliability and expert quality, and I make a conscious effort to keep it right by my side (or in a secure place) at all times. 

Additionally, I always upload photos as soon as possible to my office computer as soon as a wedding has been photographed. The photos are backed up to multiple locations (including "the cloud") to ensure they are protected in the event of any kind of natural disaster. So bottom line, no need to worry!

MY WEDDING VENUE/PROPERTY REQUIRES HIRED VENDORS TO BE INSURED. ARE YOU INSURED? 

Yes, Absolutely! We are fully insured and have worked with a fantastic insurance agency that specializes in photography services. If you or your vendor need\ any documents just let us know, we are happy to send them along.
